What Makes the Damask Collection Prinzipal So Special?
Our exclusive Damask Tablecloths Prinzipal are woven especially for us, inspired by historical table linen in the Westphalian weaving tradition. But what exactly makes the Damask Tablecloth Collection Prinzipal so unique?
The Prinzipal tablecloths are woven with placed patterns, meaning the design runs continuously around the edges. This feature is extremely rare today, as most tablecloths use an "all-over" design.
The workmanship of the Prinzipal tablecloths is also outstanding: they feature a 1.5 cm wide hem with mitered corners. The fabric itself is equally premium – crafted from 100% cotton in full-twist yarn quality. With a weight of 205 g/m², this damask tablecloth is considered “heavyweight.” A firm, durable weave was another important criterion for us. The pattern, inspired by genuine antique Münsterland table linen, enhances the exclusivity of this collection and makes it truly special.

How Do I Calculate the Size of My Damask Tablecloth?
All damask tablecloths from the LIBUSCH® table linen shop are delivered slightly larger than the stated size. This is intentional!
Since damask tablecloths will shrink when washed at boil temperatures, they reach their exact dimensions only after a few washing cycles. The extra allowance is mainly needed for the shrinkage, which is stronger in length than in width. In addition, we deliberately add a few extra centimeters, because damask tablecloths should cover a festive table generously rather than too tightly. Nothing looks worse than a tablecloth that is too small: no matter how elegant the food and decorations are, if the damask linen does not fit properly, the effect is diminished.
Damask tablecloths should always drape generously but should not hang into the guests’ laps. An overhang of 20–25 cm is ideal in our experience. How Do I Care for a Damask Tablecloth?
Our damask table linen is very easy to care for, thanks to its durable and long-lasting fabric. The elegant damask cloth can be washed at high temperatures, up to 95°C (boil wash). For stubborn stains, the damask tablecloth can even be treated with chlorine.
Of course, the gentler the washing process, the longer the brilliant white shine will last. We recommend having damask table linen professionally mangled. Ironing large tablecloths at home is not only time-consuming but often does not deliver the same smooth result. Damask tablecloths that have been mangled also feature a precise central fold line, which not only looks particularly elegant but also serves as a helpful guide when setting the table, as it divides the tabletop perfectly into two halves.
